Overview
The LifeSmart DEFED Motion Sensor is a battery-powered PIR sensor built for the DEFED security range, detecting movement up to 12 metres away across a 90-degree angle. It is designed as part of an intrusion detection system, reporting to the DEFED Smart Station over an 800-metre open-field CoSS link, which is more than enough range for the largest UAE villa plots.
A single CR123A battery is rated for up to seven years of use, which keeps maintenance visits to a minimum on villas and apartments where sensors are mounted in corners, hallways or above entrances and are not meant to be serviced often. The sensor mounts with a bracket for angle adjustment or directly on a wall or ceiling.
In a typical UAE installation, DEFED Motion Sensors are placed in living rooms, hallways and near ground-floor entrances alongside door and window sensors, giving the DEFED Smart Station overlapping coverage so an intrusion triggers an alert regardless of the entry point used.
