Overview
The LifeSmart DEFED Door/Window Sensor is a two-part magnetic contact sensor that reports open and close events to the DEFED Smart Station, forming the entry-point layer of a DEFED alarm system. A single CR123A battery is rated for up to ten years, which is unusually long for this class of sensor and reduces maintenance across a villa with many doors and windows.
It communicates over an 800m open-field CoSS link, giving it enough range to cover every opening in a large UAE villa from one centrally located Smart Station. A built-in temperature sensor and an interface for an extended NC sensor add flexibility for projects that also want to monitor a gate contact or roller shutter alongside standard doors and windows.
In a typical installation, sensors are fitted on the main entrance, ground-floor windows, patio and balcony doors, and any external access point a homeowner wants monitored, working together with the DEFED Motion Sensor and Indoor Siren for layered coverage.
