Polar Switch

The LifeSmart Polar Switch is designed around flexible wiring, with a Single Live version that installs without pulling a new neutral wire and a Live & Neutral version for circuits where a neutral is already available. Both are aimed at retrofit projects in the UAE and Oman where rewiring an existing villa or apartment to add a neutral at every switch position is impractical.

Its ultra-low static power draw - under 1mW for the single-live version - is specifically engineered to prevent the flicker that low-power LED bulbs can otherwise show when driven through a switch drawing standby current from the lighting circuit itself. This is a common complaint on older LED retrofits in the region, and the Polar Switch's independent power supply design addresses it directly.

It is available in 1, 2 or 3-way configurations, uses a 16A magnetic latching relay, and switches a 500W resistive or 200W capacitive/reductive load per way. The single-live version runs on a CR123A battery rated for around 5 years, in addition to drawing from the live wire, while the live & neutral version is fully mains powered.
